It is a school facility, so they may close during school closures.

Parking around Koret can be an issue, especially early mornings

I've been swimming here since about 2010. If you are over 55, you get a discount of about $200 annually. The parking is sufficiently bad that a permit for the Koret garage is almost a necessity if you drive there. They formerly gave us (the Masters swim team) free parking passes, but now parking is $50 per semester.

There is a very large basketball / team sports area with nice wood floors. There are quite a few workout machines on two different levels, and an expansive weight machine/dead weights area on the lower level. They periodically offer free classes in weightlifting and other topics. At peak times, most of the exercise machines may be in use.

The pool is one of the few in San Francisco that is 50 yards longways, but for most of the year the lanes are configured sideways, for 25-yard swimming. It's a large pool.

Since it's a university, you need to like or at least tolerate college students. It's the "me" generation writ large: They let the door close in your face, and don't often thank you if you hold the door for them. They drop stuff on the floor, and they don't flush. Some students at the check-in desk are friendly, and some are not.

Driving to Koret can be a trial, too, at certain hours. Cars inch forward or make sudden U-turns looking for street parking. Skateboarders take the lane. Students cross the street staring at their phones, assuming you will always look out for them. Once I watched a young lady cross Turk at Stanyan against the light, staring at her phone, oblivious. Another one got hit crossing Turk further up.

I continue to go to Koret because it's still a good value for the money, and I have friends on the team.
