There are lots of classes but membership is expensive.

The desk staff is always very helpful. I go there for the classes. They have a very wide range that appeal to almost any age adult ( going ho cardio to chair fitness). Have the option of using multiple locations which allows one to attend classes that meet their needs. Classes have about 10-20 people (sometimes less) which is much better than some other gyms. I like having a variety of instructors teaching same class as you get different benefits from different instructors and don’t get bored

My primary usage of this facility is the swimming pool for lap swimming and water aerobics classes (more about this below). A couple of major complaints about the facility-- the locker rooms and shower areas are not kept as clean as one might like. Cleaning in those areas historically has been superficial rather than comprehensive. So, for example, in the shower area, the ceilings, walls, and shower fixtures have mold or soap scum. Some lockers may be dirty inside; I don't think the interior of lockers get cleaned more than once a year, during their "cleaning shut-down" week. The limited pool size means that there are only three lanes for lap swimming, and they are often crowed. One lane is set up for slow swimmers, one for medium, and one for fast. A max of 6 swimmers per lane is allowed (pre Covid-19), and this means that swimmers are basically head to toe with each other -- not a fun workout, and difficult if any swimmer cannot maintain the same speed as others in their lane. I would prefer a pool with capacity to handle the demand -- having more lap lanes (but the Y pool was built too small for this). Water aerobics and water zumba classes are fun and heavily attended, especially by senior citizen women. It would be nice if there were more sessions offered for these classes, as well, to spread out the attendance so that there would be more room to move about energetically during class. These classes are free with membership. I think that the Y makes more money from learn-to-swim classes and lessons, so those activities take precedence in pool usage over the free classes. If your primary interest is in the swimming pool, you might be better off elsewhere, if you can afford a the monthly dues elsewhere. Since the Y's dues have gone up again, I may look elsewhere myself. Pool availability is barely adequate for what I pay.
