Beware of up sell. Honda owners manual gives little maintenance info, so one relies on repair shop staff. Went in for minor service at 30,000 miles for $160. Was told need transmission fluid change for $500. Shown recommended service sheet with highlighted “change transmission fluid at 30,000 miles.” Not highlighted was “if driving in dusty conditions or towing.”

they prefer to sell cars, not fix them. brought ny 2007 civic hybrid, told my car would need a new head gasket, would cost over 8K. Explained that car would not start and would be towed to machine shop for repairs. Asked if I could get a few things out of my car during lunch. I paid my bill $600 and asked for my keys and when I got to my car there was a note from the dealership offering to pay my service fees if I would surrender my vehicle. Curious, I was surprised when I inserted my key into the ignition, my car started. So I quickly drove my car off the lot.
