The staff talked to the residents as if they were children. Their security and monitoring of the resident's leaving the facility was seriously lacking as my confused aunt left without being seen three times in the course of a year. The staff did not seem alarmed by this. My elderly aunt's room reeked of urine for two months before they realized her bed was soaked. To their credit, as soon as this was brought to their attention, they dealt with the housekeeping staff and thoroughly cleaned her room and replaced the mattress. The final straw was that they disregarded a fax from my aunt's doctor directing them to have my aunt evaluated at the emergency room since she was showing signs of possible pneumonia. Indeed my sister and I ended up insisting on taking her to the hospital after seeing the staff was treating her with cough medicine, and she wound up in very serious condition and died four months later never having fully recovered from the pneumonia.
