First call in 2016. Technician diagnosed problems with U-Line undercounted refrigerator. No follow up after $100 charge. Returned in early 2018, diagnosed same problem, again no follow up. Excuse is that no refrigerator repair technicians available. STAFF DOES NOT FOLLOW UP WITH REPAIRS.

SKS is a local business run by a husband and wife team working from their home. She makes the appointments and does customer follow-up. He does the repairs. Their low overhead gets passed along as savings for their customers.

The wife is very good at keeping customers informed. Once, when our appointment was running late, she called well in advance to let us know. She apologized and said we could either keep our existing appointment, albeit later that same day, or she could book us a new one for any time and date of our choosing. She did her best to accommodate us.

The husband seems to be quite an expert, having worked on all types of home appliances. He really knows his stuff. On his first visit to us, he diagnosed and repaired our washing machine in under an hour. He had the necessary replacement part in his truck, so we didn’t have to wait for delivery from the manufacturer. His second visit to us was for a dryer with an intermittent heating problem. But when he arrived, the dryer was working normally again, so the problem couldn’t be demonstrated. After spending some time trying to induce a failure, he thanked us for our time and left the house without charging us anything. He asked only that we keep SKS in mind for future repair work. We will, of course.

Over the years, we’ve saved some big bucks by doing our own appliance repair. But we’re now in our sunset years and fixing our own stuff is no longer realistic. We’d been looking for an honest, reliable repair shop for quite some time. We believe we’ve found it with SKS.
