Owner said he would come day of phone call, texted at 8pm saying it was too late he would come over the next morning. Texted him at 9am no response, texted again at 4pm asking if he was coming, said he would be here shortly— showed up an hour later. Gave me an estimate, I approved since he was referred by another contractor. I then asked when he could do the workfirst he said next week— but when pressed no response. Called the next day he couldn’t commit to a date. Said he would call back that day— no call back. Finally I called and said give me a date or I would cancel the contract— he then said he was having supplier issues (which he claimed he told me— he never did) I cancelled the contract— buyer beware.

After receiving several bids to re-shingle a simple but high pitched roof with gutters, Byron and his crew came through with a winning bid based on four weighted criteria; price, performance, accreditation and longevity/reliability. Price is self explanatory, they were not the least expensive but ranked in the lower third of nine quotes. Performance; several homes on my block have had roof replacement by B&R and the quality of their work can be judged over a 5 year period and after surveying my neighbors, none reported problems in workmanship or attention to warrantee issues. Accreditation; B&R have the right certifications and insurance and State of MD licenses to meet the requirements of the shingle manufacturer to activate the manufacturer warranty. Longevity/reliability; B&R have been in business for over 16 years, have an A+ accreditation from other rating agency (the three pollinators) as well as others and, have responded well to request for warranty service when one of my neighbors had a minor issue after a roofing job. All in all a pleasant experience where I received good advice and a well priced job performed by knowledgeable workers who, while not the most careful around delicate plants, will happily acknowledge any damage and entertain reasonable offers of compensation for unintentional damage to yard plants. I highly recommend B&R Siding for your re-roofing project.
